The biggest sins for having this in the kids film is this dates the film and risks a viewer thinking the fictional universe just being irl with nothing else interesting about it. It would be like jokes about Beanie Babies in the first Toy Story film. Worse still is how cynical this is, rather than just playing idea straight that have to all but break the 4th wall acknowledging how unoriginal the core idea is.
