well, who do you listen to and like? just curious about dudes like you that slam bands like nirvana

anyway, wanted to post this from the last thread, it's kind of like the reason why 2-3 gens ahead, kids & teens found themselves still relating to nirvana. here's my personal take of someone who was alive when kurt was alive

to me, with kurt, there are a lot of mystique-like parallels with jim morrison. they both wrote vague, yet very poetic lyrics, but i never sensed that kurt was trying to be anything like jim, unlike that cringelord Bono from U2 who actually wanted to play jim in the Oliver Stone movie, LMAO could you picture that? the band would create this signature, pop-punk, groovy, punchy sound and kurt would just layer something out of this world on top of it, just like how the Doors fusion with Jim. there are vocalists that make me cringe whenever someone covers them. it's rare, but to me, anybody who tries to sing an Ozzy or Ozzy with Sabbath song, a Doors, or Nirvana song, it just doesn't do it justice no matter who does it. as far as Nirvana, the only closest exception was when kim gordon did "Aneurysm" because she was going through her split with thurston moore at the time, so it sounded so unnaturally good, sincere and cathartic all at the time

i get it, to a trained ear, it's not that Ozzy, Kurt or Morrison couldn't sing. it's obvious they never took singing lessons, but they could really draw you in, kind of like how Lou Reed, who obviously only sang when he felt like it lol could. it's a rare fucking thing, like Elvis always sang other people's lyrics, but if you didn't know that and someone told you, you'd swear up and down that wasn't true

also, add to the fact that cobain joined the 27 club just like morrison and that they both shared that cool, laid back, quirky, aloof personality that felt genuine, not forced

for me personally, the two bands that really affected me in my teens on a relatable level were The Doors and Nirvana
