I don't remember if this is before or after that point, but catch this little fucker in a net as soon as you see him. Just keep a barrel of toxic goo to fill him up. You'll need to scoop radioactive waste and bring it home but it lasts good amount of refills.
Also, the "Deatomizer" is so good, I built two. The ammo generator you place in your base is efficient enough for 2 full charges anyways, if you leave it be long enough.
