I'm pretty sure Tenna genuinely doesn't know that. When he brings her up in the music minigame, it's like when he asks where Asriel is. The way I interpret his "just kidding" line is that when he asks about Dess, Kris shoots him a nasty look, which Tenna immediately tries to brush off so things don't get awkward.
