It COULD have made sense.
The DLC added new content to a story that was already enough on its own.
But it never solved the mystery of the Interlooper.

It would have been a good enough occasion to deal with the concept of aliens on an outer plane of existence, especially since we already have the Dark Bramble.

Like imagine:
>Dark bramble is small from the outside, near-infinite from the inside
>find a Nomai device that let you warp one-way into alternate space with your spaceship
>rediscovers the solar system as seen from warp-space
