If I say 'this model has taken three wounds' all that tells me is the model can take some number between 4 and Infinity more wounds before it dies since it's still on the table.
Alternatively, if you say 'this unit has 3 wounds REMAINING' that communicates in exact terms the amount of wounds needed to be dealt before the model dies.
Every successful game on the fucking planet conveys the information as wounds remaining for this reason- forcing someone to do subtraction in their head from the original given value every time is just a waste of time and needlessly eats up time no matter how simple it is
