Having a simple kit isn't necessarily a bad thing when the tools he did have all had uses, in my opinion, you don't need massive toolkits to be unique or fun. I mean, even if you remove his walljumps and such Claw would still be a unique character thanks to his rolls, the claw mechanic and his weird normals for example.
