The point of those circus is to look good, you don't even need lot of missiles saturating the entire screen, you need constant movement in an aesthetic way.
Itano may have named the methods, but he reused the same animation a lot and others have since surpassed him.
You can't improve on Itano's circus without eventually going full 3D, it's the entire point.

The problem come when amateur think they can fake it simply by saturating the sceen with zigzagging lines.
