Think for a second. We were told by all these big devs that RE4 was their inspiration. But where did all the annoying parts come from? All those annoying parts that ardent fans desperately defend as being mature?
The answer is Sonic Heroes.
Every time someone says "Gaming needs to mature as an artform by copying *insert generic M rated AAA slop here* it's actually just a copy of the bad parts of Sonic Heroes without copying the good parts.
Sonic is shat on so you don't catch on that Sonic has been the inspiration of so many western AAA games.
It's like how pedophiles shit on lolis to cover up how they have sex with real kids. Same thing here. Western devs desperate to be seen as mature shit on Sonic so you don't realize they were copying and dumbing down Sonic's mechanics and trying to pass them off as mature.
