They're not terrible movies, they have tons of entertainment value even if the script/dialogue is... well I think everyone agrees George desperately needed more forceful editors. The most damning thing about RLM's prequel criticism is that those sentiments are directly responsible for the sequels being what they are.
The prequel fanboys who insisted "but the prequels had better worldbuilding!" are unironically the most vindicated. It turns out, yes, that literally is the most important ingredient. The prequels have way more expanded content and cultural impact than the sequels despite the latter having better acting, production design, effects, and tighter plotting.
