Rhaetia has been saved, thanks to patience on the part of the emperor and the valor of his legions. Waiting but one season to attack the huns gave time for those easterners to err, splitting their hordes up in an effort to spread further into the empire's borders (aided by several of these hordes being waylaid by imperial spies). The two hordes which remained in Rhaetia were destroyed with relative ease by the I and XXII legions, leaving only two remaining hordes to destroy. One horde had travelled southeast into Dalmatia where it would be confronted by the X legion under Sextus Lentulus, while the larger and more threatening of the two had stopped in the alpine passes north of Mediolanum. This proximity to the Imperial throne made the horde a top priority for the I legion, which made a mad dash southwards, even as it recovered from the earlier battle. In the heat of the summer, Vettius Praetexatus and the I legion managed to beat back their second Hunnic Horde in a mere half a year. Currently they remain encamped at Mediolanum. While the specter of a Hunnic return looms eastwards in the ruins of Germania, the most immediate threat to Rhaetia is currently the migrating Danes, who are being watched closely by the legions near them (2/5).
