There are a lot of completely recreated backgrounds, I don't have screenshots of all of them but there are literally dozens of fantastic quality recreations in the mod packs
Otherwise they are just upscaled and made to fit widescreen
Character models are based off the cinematics
It's entirely faithful, and the original game at 16:9 60fps is basically what people want when asking for a 1:1 remake
