Battledroids had a good way of doing infantry - infantry weapons can't harm mechs, so each squad carries a single anti mech weapon, a MG, a small laser, flamer, SRM or LRM launcher. Foot troops had 1MP, while Jeeps are just a faster moving unarmoured vehicle mounted squad. No need to track hits as a hit fron any battlemech scale weapon destroys/scatteres a squad completely. You just place squad counters and pluck them off the board when shot. It cuts down the paperwork a lot and cut out inconsistencies about how battlemech armor is the best armor ever (making rifle cannons useless) but can be scrubbed off with rifles, smgs or even longbows..
