I started playing in 2015 and it was actually really fun. The community has always been awful at the game and unwilling to get any better. People didn't always advertise their gay tranny shit either, at least not on gilgamesh or leviathan although after I left gilgamesh, I never went to any major area unless absolutely necessary. ARR was a lot of world building and the HW onward was when things started getting better. The combat used to not be so homogenized but it was still easy. Although, despite it being easy, it was fairly punishing and that filtered a lot of people because they sucked ass at the game. I genuinely don't understand how anyone gets groomed. Nobody ever talked to me and I never bothered to talk to people outside of my groups that I'd be in. Well, other than when I played with /xivg/ back in 2015-2016. It was a different time back then
