3) Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning (yeah yeah defy your fate and whatever, but holy fuck was the combat repetitive and monotonous, at least for me)

Buying my own copy of Vice City for the PS2 made me realize that GTA has always been pretty shit outside the ability to free roam and push prostitutes into oncoming traffic or whatever. All the drugs and violence were fun as a kid but the novelty wears off when you see fent heads and other ghetto trash every day, deal with the consequences of living around them, and actually carry and shoot a real gun regularly. Also the basic gameplay is kinda janky and not fun and the writing is very meh.

Did you know that during the opening sequence you can just wander off? There's nothing to find, but it can certainly waste your time. I wasted fifteen minutes exploring instead going up to interact with whatever it was, before getting stuck on an invisible wall. Then I restarted, did the intended thing(why the fuck wasn't it just a cutscene if there's nothing to discover or do) and immediately got greeted by awful, worse than porn tier writing and voice acting that cause me to physically cringe. I shut the game off and uninstalled it immediately.

The gameplay sucks, it's pointless to up the difficulty. The writing is schizophrenic; at times it carries the same energy the original had and at other times it's painfully godawful. It's monetization is deeply offensive, its plot is lazy and bad, and the ending was of course, very special. But I was done with that shit long before getting slapped in the face. Anyone who actually thought the game was good up to the ending is mentally retarded.

The devs actively removed the most fun part of the game(dropping in Skulltown) to appeal to sweats. The balance is complete dog-shit between controller/mouse players such that you are actively punished for playing with mouse and keyboard. It could have been good, slop together a multiplayer game with the gameplay lifted from Titanfall and you won't go wrong unless you do so on purpose.

Worst, most dog-shit, godawful controls I've ever experienced in a multiplayer game. Balancing characters around how fucking awful it is to control them just activates my autism to an extreme degree. I'm sure sometime in the last 13 years they've improved things, but while all MOBAS were shit when I tried them DOTA was by far the most offensive.

Worst game I ever finished was Final Fantasy XV.
Worst gameplay is in FFXIV where you have 24 hours of back and forth talking to NPCs between the original game and the first expansion.

Wind Waker made me never buy anything from Nintendo again.

Most other bad games are very apparent how bad they are immediately so there is no comparison.

Ghostrunner 2 is definitely up there. I can't believe some of the decisions those fuckers made.
BL3 was genuinely unbearable to me, couldn't get through the tutorial with how characters were talking. Thankfully I didn't pay for that dogshit.
League of Legends, awful game, basically a picking up a meth habit in terms of time commitment.

I just finished this game after buying it for like 5 dollars on steam. I cannot BELIEVE how many people think this game is anything above a 4/10. It's so mother fucking bad in the writing department and it's a completely story-based walking simulator. The bare minimum is that the story is good but holy FUCK was all this great potential wasted. if they cut out a couple of the voice actors, it'd have a great cast with great performances. Instead of making a story around your choices, there's basically a canon ending they WANT you to get but if you don't choose in that direction, you're scolded at every opportunity and given "the bad ending" it's so incredibly up its own ass and cringe. I feel like I'm fucking crazy with how many people say this game has a "great story". There's so many examples of actual non-sense plot-armor and ugh.. I cannot hate this game enough. I want my 11 hours and 5 dollars back.

Rockstar games are the third-person shooter equivalent of Call of Duty - they take no skill regarding gameplay, it's just bullet whack-a-mole with a bunch of enemies that go down easy, and everything is put into the set pieces and graphics.

Rockstar's writing has also taken a nose-dive since the first Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire (and that writing was a result of Team Bondi's doing, not the Rockstar regulars).

I have my top spot regarding worst game experiences. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most painful games I've ever endured - horribly written, gameplay and story pacing is slow as molasses, "RPG" elements that are worse than Witcher 3 and Skyrim, no random quick-draw duels and more "hey! FIND THIS THING AND BRING IT BACK TO ME!" missions, no gameplay freedom or variety, enemy variety that showcases Rockstar hasn't grown since GTA4 with no enemy variety and an obsessive focus on physics over gameplay, no interesting gameplay options with having a gang with you, the gang dynamic in the camp (like GTA5's Heist missions) are completely devoid of meaning, and variety of guns don't matter because they all do the same thing of making the enemies flail about like drunks at a rave with one bullet.

Wonderfully acted and beautiful to look at, but I'll never replay this game.

The only other one I can think of at the moment is Nier Automata. Outdated hack-n-slash (Platinum's "spam trigger to dodge" mechanic does not make up for this), weapon choices which are all dull, characters are boring, bringing up interesting ideas is not the same as actually exploring them, the art style looks like vomit, the enemy variety is crap, the level design is worse than Fallout 3 which was intentionally samey, and I hear nothing but praise for it because people wanted to fuck 2B.

The most unforgettable horror porn game I've ever played. No other game had a bunch of elementary schoolers gangbang a teenage girl against a wall. And the teenage girl loved it. No other game I've played had a 17 year old bishonen guy drink a 14 year old girl's piss and chase her down the hall to rape her, only to wind up getting anally raped by a 32 year old fat man. I still remember the scene where a 16-17 girl was hiding under a bed as her same age best friend was having sex with that same 32 year old fat guy on top. She heard every moan, bed shake and sound. In the wrong end she was discovered under the bed by her friend and made to join. A most terrifying scene was when an unwilling girl relives another girl's sex memories. The girl in the memory consented but the reliving girl didn't. It didn't matter that she was mentally screaming, her body in the memory did all the motions and actions as in history. It's like mind control rape except the victim was fully aware. Another scene the same girl and a friend were almost raped in a magic sex ritual, saved by the girl's older sister, and the backlash made the older sister want to rape her younger sister and friend.

It's basically a Teletubbies simulator, play a day as any TV episode and go to sleep

Halo 4 started out interesting but got bad very quickly. I didn’t care for the new enemy types, and it felt very tedious to play, so I dropped it.

I started playing in 2015 and it was actually really fun. The community has always been awful at the game and unwilling to get any better. People didn't always advertise their gay tranny shit either, at least not on gilgamesh or leviathan although after I left gilgamesh, I never went to any major area unless absolutely necessary. ARR was a lot of world building and the HW onward was when things started getting better. The combat used to not be so homogenized but it was still easy. Although, despite it being easy, it was fairly punishing and that filtered a lot of people because they sucked ass at the game. I genuinely don't understand how anyone gets groomed. Nobody ever talked to me and I never bothered to talk to people outside of my groups that I'd be in. Well, other than when I played with /xivg/ back in 2015-2016. It was a different time back then

Borderlands 2 was bad from jump. The story was awful, the voice acting was awful, that characters were like digital muppets for retards, the game play was awful, progression was awful, skill trees were awful, memes were awful, stages and world design was awful, enemies were awful, visuals were awful (especially on PC). It was a tedious and mind numbing game that didn't even have the courtesy to let us skip dialogue.

The only redeeming quality in the whole game was Handsome Jack. he was an enjoyable antagonist. Absolutely everything else, even the damned lobby, was awful.

cod ww2 started out strong but ended very suddenly on an anticlimax
never completed the aw or iw campaigns, lost all interest halfway

10. Lobotomy Corporation - It's main defining gimmick is playing a prank on the player, and much like Eternal Darkness, it's a cheap meaningless gimmick that gets boring the second you encounter it. 9. Fear & Hunger - Below average game with decent atmosphere that is masked by "difficulty" so that no fan ever has to face criticism.

8. Time Lord - Kinda cool concept ruined by the fact it is literally unbeatable.

7. Succubus - Game would have only ever been relevant if it had been released in the 90s where it might have actually been edgy. Now it's just cringe.

6. Ao Oni - Convinced me for years that RPG Maker Non-RPG horror games were all shit and I should never play them. Took me way to long to break this mindset.

5. Dead2y Premonition - Shat on the original while not learning a single game development lesson. It's like watching your high school friend become a drugged out loser that never moved on.

If I had an old Youtube gaming channel with all the appropriate bits, this game would be my nemesis. I only paid 3€ for it brand new when a store was basically throwing them out, and even then I felt ripped off. Its issues have now been covered by a lot of folks, but the "you have to run away from the boss for us to even try to tell you what you should do and btw if you beat it some other way we'll get all passive aggressive on you about how there was a PROPER way to do it" is one of the biggest reasons even thinking about it makes my blood boil. An absolute travesty and the game that made me realize Miyamoto should be locked up to his garden.

1 is just exceedingly generic, 2 had one particular stage the raring of which was so goddamn strict I spent like quarter of the total playtime trying to five-star it, so many stages had that kinf of bullshit that drove me up the wall because the majority of the stages were relatively simple, a couple of outliers like that with no clear skips or exploits to make them feel like they'd be on equal footing with the rest really made me sour.

The most painful thing is that several other fighting games showed that it was possible to make a good fighting game on 3DS, Tekken only had to add all the stuff that was there previously, but they decided not to. An absolute waste of a good idea.

Downpour is conceptually a lot better than Homecoming but Homecoming isn't nearly as broken, which is why it lands on the list. I actually liked Downpour when it worked but when it didn't I wanted to throw my console through the wall. There was a single room building that I actually spent an hour on getting past because it would load in but wouldn't load the game world when I tried to leave, and another time I managed to get the skyboxes loaded into the fucking subway and softlock the game that way. The shit I had to reload through was pretty egregious at times.

The original XIII became cult classic due to its cartoony-comic book style graphics, and the fact that you can pick up stuff and use them to kill enemies. The gunplay/stealth sucks ass and the plot is boring though, and it also has lots and lots of bugs and shit checkpoint system. I dont know how people overlooked all these technical issues and made it a cult classic.
When it comes to Black flag, I hate it because it enjoys wasting your time alot if you decide to do more than just the main story. Lots of repetitive side quests with zero substance, the grinding for materials, and a very extremely tedious collectathon. Thanks to the game's progress, doing all these stuff will barely give you enough resources to upgrade your ship after a point. Also, in classic assgreed tradition, the stealth/swordplay is all over the place here as well, and its stupid as fuck.

I will never forgive them for ruining my favorite franchise. The forerunners were gay anime monsters, and they were supposed to be ancient humans. Master Chief, the ultimate badass, fell in love with his BPD robot. The combat was casualized and trendified, and it lost everything that made Halo special. I can never forgive them.
2) Mass Effect Andromeda
Holy fuck this game was bad. Horrific, cringe inducing writing. Incoherent, nonsensical plot. Infinite fetch quests. Really it was just a harbinger of things to come. Doesn't feel like we've moved past this cultural moment almost 10 years later by now, which is just sad to me.
3) Clay Fighter 64
Fuck you, I hate this game.
4) Starfield
This whole game is a humiliation ritual. It has been discussed to death, but it will go down in history as a profound failure from absolutely every angle of analysis, and it is the death knell for Bethesda

This game is fun for literally 30 minutes, and then it starts to feel like work. This one really stings, because it feels like it could have been so good with a little more effort. Also, the movement is absolute ass. It blows my mind that a proper sequel to Mechwarrior 3 has never been made.

Fire Emblem Awakening - Awful time since I might have gimped my main character at the start to be a swordsman/caster over a pure spell caster, I kept leveling up and grinding but my guys would sometimes die in one hit? I know you can break the shit out of this game but on Hard I found so many fucking difficulty spikes it drove me insane. Okay, fine, even if you remove me being the retard the game is shallow as fuck, its a JRPG on a grid, zero strategy, and despite everyone saying it ruined the franchise with waifu bullshit, the waifu bullshit isn't even good. The ending is so fucking bad on this note too, jesus fuck.

Sonic Adventure 2:
Pure soul, yet worse in every way to all the main Sonic levels in SA1. The shooting/driving/treasure segments arent that bad but they can drag so fucking hard and they just start to wear on you. They're so fucking boring and that final stage gauntlet was hell.

Ace Combat 5: Fly in a straight line, wait for the retarded dialogue to end, slowly chip away priority targets because you can run out of missiles extremely quick and your retard teammates can't do shit. 4 and 0 are so much fucking better. WAR IS LE BAD - ACE COMBAT 5.

Drakengard 3 - Everything through ending A is a solid 7, really enjoyed this but the ending was setting up something else so obviously I had to play more to get the "full story". Such a bad fucking idea, ruined the entire game for me, thought it was going to reveal something more to tie up all the loose ends, LOL NOPE, READ A BOOK/MANGA/SCREENPLAY, WHATEVER THE FUCK IT IS. Never even got ending D because the final boss is fucking bullshit. Drakengard 1 is arguably better in some ways and that game is fucking horrible (which I also beat up through ending D). Nier is the only game he has made worth playing, I haven't put much time in Automata.

Borderlands 2 was fine, but once you got to TUVH mode the game became shit. If you didn't have slag glued to your hand or swap to it every few seconds you did fuckall damage. Krieg was immune to this crap. Didn't play those stupid Overlevels

Borderlands PS and 3 fixed those mechanics. The problem is PS has fuckall content while 3 has the best mechanics but the absolute worst dogshit story that actively made me angry even when I tried to play through the game with another character.

I'd tell y'all to give Outer Wilds another try, but it's a very polarizing game. The space physics unironically filter a lot of people, and if you just don't like how you move, you won't like it. If you have the iq for it, then that's great, but the space movement is not built for casuals. Also, the first planet is a bit redditty with all the silly happy npcs. But they need to set the stage somehow, and it really does get a thousand times better once you're off on your own.

1 - Dragon Age 2
This game is such absolute dogshit ruined by so many bad decisions it's impossible to keep count. This was the first big release that had been done entirely under EA after their hostile takeover of Bioware and every single problem EA caused is visible hear. From the shitty paraphrased dialogue wheel to the crappy "action" combat to the awful quippy dialogue to the fact that all the leads were under goddamned 25 years old. This game spawned a million terrible memes (and a few funny ones, see: stanrey woo do not cross) and is worth every ounce of ire that's thrown its way. I could talk for hours about everything that sucks about this game, because it's EVERYTHING.

2-Back 4 Blood
Another game I could go on about for a while but one I can easily sum up: Left 4 Dead but without Valve stripping out all the terrible ideas. They bolted fucking everything onto this piece of shit, it's some kind of crappy deck-building faux-roguelike action-coop mashup garbage pile. Special infected are all tanks, they all look alike, the randomized weapons suck, the builds are pigeonholed, and the devs literally never got the game working without major bugs. They literally gave up and just tried to balance around the broken spawn waves.

I had the same thoughts at first (hated the tutorial area), but once I got into space and that explorer's spirit within me kicked in I couldn't put it down for 3 days. The pitch is basically that it's an exploration-heavy game where you're a space detective finding alien ruins and gathering information from them, with a lot of environmental puzzles (none are that challenging). There's a pinboard in the ship's computer that will help keep track of what leads you have, and there's several mysteries that reveal themselves to you that are pretty interesting to discover. It's just one of those games where you have to go into it with an open mind and see where it takes you. It's sort of onions at times, but looking back on it, it's pure kino.

This shit on launch was so bad. It has some fundamentally horrible decisions like vtrigger being a comeback only mechanic that gave you a free roman cancel and put you in a powered up state in your opponents face and added a bunch of objectively bad mechanics like the priority system just because people like to jerk off third strike.
>9: Abiotic Factor
Probably a critique of survival crafting games in general but these kind of games just don't value your time. The actual fun part of involving exploring gets bogged down by the amount of time you waste sitting there and generating resources/ repairing your weapons 5 billion times just so you can explore for 5 minutes and then spend another hour prepping again. It says a lot when the main purpose of these games is to automate all of the shitty resource management just so you don't have to put up with it.
>8. Devil May Cry 2
Man I thought maybe this game would be a fun sort of bad like the Room, but it's just fucking boring. Enemies don't fight back and guns do everything, Dante has no personality just skip this fucking game it's not worth you time.

>7. Risk Of Rain 2
Genuinely one of the most mind numbing games I've ever played and I have no idea what people like this game so much. The enemy balance is so whack they either shoot the slowest moving projectiles at you that you can dodge by holding strafe the whole time or sometimes you might instantly die to some giant nuke that you can't see coming. Since the levels are absolutely gigantic you'll never run out of space to strafe so you're practically invincible. There's no thought to how you use abilities, just use them all as soon as they're off cooldown and the items are mostly uninspired passive items that don't change the way you play the game at all. I imagine Risk Of Rain 1 is probably more interesting since it being 2D probably actually gives you some challenge but I haven't played that game.

>6. Resident Evil 0
Resource management taken way too far to a tedious degree. You're given double inventory space with two characters but then items take up two slots for like no reason, invalidating your inventory space. Also they remove the item box and let you drop items everywhere which sounds like it might make resource management easier but it doesn't since now those items are stuck in that room and you'll have to go back to collect those items in that one specific room instead of being in two general rooms like the item box will provide.
This also makes you just litter items everywhere on the main floor and when so many items are gathered on the floor, picking up a particular item can be a pain in the ass. Controlling two characters doesn't even flow pretty well and the game as a bunch of annoying enemies like the leech guys and the monkeys. Got really fucking bored with this game and finished it out of obligation.

>5. Duke Nukem Forever
Game basically tried to parody Half Life 2 but was 20 years too late and just a super shittier version of it. Two weapon limit is just so objectively shit.

>4. Killing Floor 3
Man everything about this game sucks, the weapons feel like shit, all the characters except Mr. Foster and Ninja guy look ugly as sin. They tied weapon perks to the characters so you're forced to play these ugly ass characters if you want to try out that class. Ult abilities in this game what?? Also the game also expects you to grind extra resources by shooting random objects in the game that's exactly what I want to do in my zombie shooting game is to go around the map aimlessly shooting cameras. Probably going to have microtransactions up the ass this game's fucking awful.

Couldn't finish this game such a step down from the original. Universal ammo is just dumb and the levels being small as sin killed any motivation to finish this garbage since there's a loading scren every 5 seconds.

>2. Monster Hunter Wilds
Has the worst forced story mode in any game I've ever played, I couldn't even fucking finish it since you're forced into walk and talk sequences even after skipping all the cutscenes which allegedly adds up to 20 hours of doing fucking nothing. Then you get to hunt a monster for like 5 minutes and it's back to the stupid cutscene shit. Why did capcom force this garbage who cares about the story mode in a monster hunter game just let me kill some shit.

>1. Melty Blood: Type Lumina
This is the release version of the game but they just had so many stupid decisions. Shield obviously gets complained about so much for how much defensive RPS it forces but the most egregious factor is moon drive. It's a mechanic you get at round start that freezes the screen and makes all moon specials have infinite armor which means people freeze the screen on defense, see you're inputting a button or hell maybe they don't even care and then they let loose their invincible reversal that you can jump cancel on block so you can't even punish it. This shit was probably patched but man did the game make mounting any sort of pressure feel completely pointless just made the game feel complete ass to engage in.

One that stands out in my history was Sonic The Hedgehog GBA. Even as a dumb 13 year old kid, I could tell just how dogshit of a port it was. It's wild that BOTH games meant to celebrate Sonic's 15th ended up being rushed and terrible. A Sonic 1 port feels more inexcusable because it's a known quantity and SEGA already showed on GBA that they could get a satisfying Sonic experience out of the hardware.

Every turn based game I've played: Paper Mario, Chrono Trigger, FFVII, Parasite Eve. Some of those games look fun, but I just can't stomach the "gameplay".
I hate that /v/ calls games like Uncharted "movie games" while enjoying turn based RPGs. Uncharted, while no GOTY material, and conceding that the walking talking sections are annoying, they are pretty fun when you actually get to fight hordes.
Maybe because I didn't grew up with any turn based game, it must be an acquired taste.

I'm playing White right now, my first gen 5 game, and it feels so basic and unfun. I'm 4 gyms in and there's been no mystery or intrigue in any of the towns so far. I walk into a town, there's a cut scene, I do the gym battle then go through another grass section. Shit is so basic I have no idea how people convinced themselves that it's any good. Maybe it gets better later but I get the feeling everyone was just impressed by the 3D-ish graphics on a DS system and thought that meant it's a good game.
My favorite gen is 2 by the way. Original, not the remakes.

I agree, the best thing it has going for it is the humor, which is indeed kinda funny. But the melodrama is overwrought and nonsensical, lines meant to be impactful have no actual significance besides just being vaguely "cool" or "emotional" seeming, pure simulacra writing. One of its most celebrated lines "this is the time I live" makes absolutely no fucking sense considering his character and the theme of the drugs numbing him down, it's just there for effect, very vague and meaningless. No reason for him to say or think this. Same goes for basically every single wham line in the game.
The gameplay becames instantly one note after the first Hub Zone, and all the joy and excitement of exploration is gone once you realize the retardedly simple loop it bases itself on.
