Reading up on the Blish lock in Thompson SMGs, it seems like even from the beginning the lock's usefulness was questioned. Is there any reason it took until the military's request to simplify the guns for it to be removed. It seems like something that production people would have already been looking at removing to cut costs for civilian sale guns.
