What happens when man plays god? Brazilians have for years experienced the answer to this question as their homes have disappeared before their eyes. Brazil is turning into a desert, and millions are fleeing the desertifying coastal provinces and fleeing deeper into the Amazon, where fertile soil still exists. The Green Sahara megaproject orchestrated by Imperial Britain has created luxurious resorts and homes for millions in the newly-created oases in the Sahara; massive lakes now dot the Sahara. But in pursuing glory and prosperity for the Empire, there have been consequences to Amazon.

Scientists have known for years that wind currents carry immense amounts of Saharan desert sand across the Atlantic, with a significant portion settling in the Amazon basin. The Amazon rainforest depends on fertilizing chemicals contained within the sand to sustain it. No desert means no and means less fertilizer for the Amazon, and so for years Brazil's coastal regions have withered; the air has become drier and the ground more arid as desertification begins in Brazil.

With millions fleeing into Amazon's hinterland, the rainforest is dying at a swift rate. While not many environmental organizations exist, the ones that do have attempted to alert the public to the crisis. The American Sierra Club has decried the desertification of Brazil and death of the Amazon rainforest as a "tragic human and environmental catastrophe." The concept of Brazil already is a near-dead notion, as years ago it fractured into several states following years of British-supported rebellion. Having already killed Brazil, some conspiracy theorists have said Imperial Britain seeks to salt the very land on which it rests and forever end the Brazilian people.

Scientists warn that the environment damage is irreversible. When asked for a comment, an official of the Empire simply stated, in essence, what was done was done.
