Also, the reason I originally liked Sydney wasn't her good qualities, it was that she had been rightly blackballed by the teams she worked with for being impatient, arrogant, and controlling.
That provides great chew and would have lined up with Carm and Richie's arcs.

Instead there's clearly a faction in the production team that wants to absolve Sydney and let her secretly have been an ingenue this whole time. If they end up indulging in that mary sue black womyn bullshit they will irrevocably ruin her character.
