Anon... it was a major security issue that barely anyone used. It's a shame it's gone, but it had to go to ensure the site doesn't get hacked again... I can confirm the IRC is helpful though! I got like a 3 day ban for making a thread about a video game character a few years ago, talked to the IRC for like 5 minutes and the ban was reversed since it was blatantly false.
