I don't know why but for some reason people always get excited over:

Sometimes it works out and doesn't destroy the original. Look at the 2005 King Kong which is basically a loveletter to the original but also good enough to stand on its own merits both from a technological and thematic standpoint. But then you look at every videogame remake in existence and the differences and problems are like night and day. Videogame culture has unfortunately embraced the idea of just remaking everything but worse.
