>McF uses in-house sculptors on payroll.
Modern citation needed. It's commonly stated here that most domestic toy companies outsource most of their sculpting now to freelancers. And even if you're right that McFarlane is entirely in house sculpting, I covered both cases there: commission and hourly.

>And any good design manager or art director will not accept shitty sculpts just to 'save a couple hundred dollars in sculptor pay' and forever be left with a shitty product.
Anon, have you ever seen a modern McFarlane release? It's pretty clear they don't care if they output shitty product. There are lazy choices and mistakes everywhere. They pull art that doesn't match figures. They reuse parts that don't fit the character they are making. They don't keep their characters in scale with even their own line. They don't even test their torso and hip articulation to make sure most of it works properly against the sculpt variances. Assuming they have "good" managers or directors is like assuming Hasbro's CEO cares about anything but money. ~70% of their sculpts are bad. I only buy from the other ~30% that I have interest in and occasionally dabble in crap sculpts if they're on clearance, for fun, or if I can use some parts.

>Again, that's not how the toy world works. When you grab an IP, you are contractually obligated for a certain number of years and/or a certain amount of product. He can't just go making one figure from a bunch of different properties and see what sells.
I was stating the output drop of when he has DC which has a huge figure output vs output when he loses DC next year. I don't know what you think I'm saying but it isn't whatever you're arguing against. It's saying he can scale down because the Chinese factories work on orders--he doesn't own them, so he could order 90% less than his DC height if that is all he needs. If he has all sculptors on payroll instead of commission as you seem to think then he will be letting a lot of sculptors go.
