And I'm extra super glad that the original cathartic ending was completely undone specifically so the writers could assure you, "Don't worry, Akechi got away with everything. He's perfectly fine."

(Meanwhile Adachi kind'a sort'a killed two people indirectly, and Mitsuo killed one person, and the narrative was extremely clear the entire time that they were fucked up people who'd done something terrible and needed to go to jail.)
