Nintendo is really weird in that even when they build shit up for Mario, they tend to just ignore their own canon or refuse to outright say anything. Mario lore is a sandbox and they choose to make anything be either true or false at anytime. But if they actually tried to make Pauline (Bonanza) a Jr. that would just mean that this weird web of romance, and enemies, and Juniors (for some reason) will continue to grow.
