Because you're in a state of vice, virtue sounds arduous and boring to you. Homer, Virgil, Beowulf, Dante, Milton, etc. are definitely not boring though, and neither is Plato. Some of the supporting stuff is dry, but if it is delivered with the literature I see no problem here. Likewise, modern stuff like Narnia and LOTR is only boring if you've had your brain fried by electronic media and being bombarded with porn and constant gratification from grace school.
Millennia of students found Virgil and Ovid interesting though.
Actually, I think it's vidya, Hollywood, Tik Tok, etc. that leads to boredom. The kids who are most sucked into this stuff complain about being bored the most because they need constant stimulation. They can't spend a day enjoying Homer and be fine with just that.
