It's a legacy of Imperial propaganda. The Japanese were taught their country was special and perfect, because it was created by Amaterasu and given to the Japanese to rule.

It's not common these days, but a lot of Japanese until recently, believed that their country is the only country on Earth with 4 weather seasons. Sure, other countries have spring, summer, fall and winter, but nowhere on Earth are these seasons as perfect and well-defined as in Japan. Gaijin don't have true weather seasons and can't understand them -> Autism + Nationalistic propaganda

That's basically the legacy of Shinto nationalism, the fetishization of everything Japanese, from the "correct" way of eating food to the seasons of Japan being the most perfect.

Ironically the Japanese themselves have grown out of this, largely, but the weeaboos have picked it up.
