3 players is a solid dynamic to build around. With 2 it gets kinda gay being alone with your bro, and with 4 you often just split into 2 teams of 2 and have to balance around that instead. 3 is a magic number because it lets you have a team dynamic while still ensuring cohesion because if two of them fuck off to go fap or something then the last guy will usually get overwhelmed by themselves.
