It only gets praise IMO because it's Bungie's last Halo. If 343 created Reach exactly how Bungie did, down to every single last "balance" patch which further ruined it, it would be grouped with the 343 games too. I'd go as far to say many things Reach did was substantially WORSE than 343's. 343 at least tried giving automatic weapons some prominence after every Bungie game had 90% of the weapons all be useless besides headshot guns and power weapons. It didn't work but 343 at least tried (even if they failed) when Bungie all but gave up during Reach.
