I mean, Vieras and Viis are incredibly uniques in XIV (and unlike the miqo'tes living in tribes, which is really only explained in the additional books, it's explained ingame when you meet Fran) with an unique biology and strange customs, but yeah, compared to... FFXII's isolationists, extremely xenophobic elves-like bunny people, they're a lot friendlier in XIV.
Then again, most creatures are a lot more friendly in XIV than they they'd be in previous games. Probably an effect of the fucking calendar being literally a "time passed since last world-ending catastrophe".
Just a bit of a shame the Viera's unique physiology is just background and lore and doesn't have any real effect ingame.
