the 2nd pic with Wander standing near the altar says so much about how they just don't get it on any level
the Forbidden Lands are supposed to be blinding and ethereal from inside the comfort of the temple. once you get out of it the game adjusts how harsh it is, similar to how our eyes adjust to brightness in real life
not to mention it just frames the image so much better, providing contrast by putting the focus entirely on Wander rather than the pillars and mountains in the background
