What did i conflate? The group 48>46 thing? Granted that's an oversimplification but I was simply offering my own superficial impression. I don't think describing the change as "more conservative" is inaccurate though, regardless of the 'forces' behind it. Maybe 'conservatism' is too strong a word?
Anyway, I'm not saying it's the idols/productions fault or anything and I'm sure your explanation is probably accurate. The market forces, changing demographics and 'safe' standards would be driving the changes and trends. I appreciate the summary.
