Considering it's one half of the inspiration for the Metroidvania genre, I expected more out of it. I didn't have a bad time but when I think of major Nintendo IPs, Metroid is right up there so seeing it handed off to MercurySteam was a little disheartening. It ended up feeling like yet another 'one of those'. I doubt Dread is anyone's favorite metroidvania but if you want to play one, you won't have a bad time with it.
