This is interesting. But i like the anthropological viewpoint of masochism. Women who didnt have masochism were less likely to survive brutal times.
Because you're a feminine individual(neurologically speaking), masochism is ingrained in you and there is nothing that can be done about it.

The more interesting question is where does sadism come from? And why is it more common in males? Perhaps for the similar reasons, tho its hard to believe cruelty let to more success, but then again, maybe it did, since it seems to me it is always the worst people who gain "success " in this world.
So looking at it philosophically, maybe we live in a prison dimension where evil is rewarded and goodness is punished.

Who knows. I am bitter and cynical about the nature of reality
