For me, it's the America of the Era of Good Feelings, closely followed by the 1890s, then the 1920s, then the 1980s, and THEN the 50s. It's an overrated and overromanticized decade that's often confused for the late 40s and early 1960s, but for a number of reasons is still up there for the best time to be an American for obvious reasons.

In all fairness it was basically this weird intermediate period from the late 40s to early 60s where there were all the material comforts of the postwar world without almost any of the cultural nonsense ushered in by the Boomers that completely ruined it and set all the worst tendencies of the era in stone. You still had streetcars, transcontinental passenger trains, and strong public transit networks; while crime was at all-time lows due to the Ellis Islanders finally integrating and organized crime starting to seriously decline.
