It makes perfect sense that the ROMULAN STAR EMPIRE, a vast interstellar empire encompassing hundreds of star systems, could be utterly destroyed by a single super nova which forces their entire population to become refugees and then only Earth can take on refugees because forget about all of those colony planets from TOS and TNG where 10,000 people are living on an ENTIRE PLANET and there's plenty of room and plenty of M-class planets for everyone...
