>John Romero's autobiography
It's called Doom Guy: Life in First Person. I've read it and it actually provides some interesting tidbits about id's early history. Romero allegedly suffers from hyperthymesia so he's able to recall everything in great detail including his own thought process behind Doom's design choices at the time they were making it. I would recommend giving it a read to anyone interested in gaming history, Doom or Quake's troubled development.
