We're entering the most passive generation of men across the globe in human history. Most wouldn't go die for their country as it feels like many men have been left behind and forgotten by it in favor of bolstering womens rights and appealing to immigrants over natural citizens. Japs are probably one of the groups that would still fight for independence given how closed the country still is regarding foreigners but at the same time if you were to ask late teens what they thought they'd probably desire more outer influence given how all of the tech and pop culture they're receiving is heavily credited to the West. I mean just look at how many loan words Japanese uses these days, soon we'll see Japanese looking like this:
