I just finished Total Eclipse VN and what a masterpiece. It's even better than the main serie, the MC doesn't have a cardboard personality and the girls are cute and hardworking. I'm glad to have left that for the end. I've gone through the main serie, then Total eclipse anime, Schwarzesmarken anime, all the TDA and finally the Total eclipse VN. What a journey. Finished reading Muv Luv Extra, Unlimited, and Alternative again for the first time in a while and I think I kinda wanna read some of the other stuff too now. I've never even really looked at any of the other VNs or anime so I was wondering what would be good to jump into. TDA looks cool, but a part of me is disinterested in it because it apparently takes place in the Unlimited world, which seems to be irrelevant considering what happened in Alternative. Also, I heard through the grapevine that a sequel to Alternative was in the works and I saw images that looked quite intriguing, so what's the news on that?

Photonflowers is a short story collection that is worth reading. Photonmelodies has several longer stories including Altered Fable, the official Alternative sequel. Total Eclipse is all TSF wank, and really shits itself after it overshoots the Anime's content. TDA is serialized and has no end, but if you like the politics it'll be up your alley. We're probbaly never going to see an official release of Schwarzesmarken, though I'm sure a fan AI translation will be shat out before too long. And we're never going to see Resonative or Integrate.

I have the Photon games and tried photonflowers, but I realized I don't really care to since all the Extra stories are about the girls and pre-Extra and I only really care about Extra because of Takeru and the shit he went through. Plus some of the Alternative stories seem to be about Total Eclipse which I haven't read, so I would rather not spoil myself in any way if I wanna read those. I hope I like TDA, but I have my doubts since as much as the mechs and political intrigue was cool in Alternative, I wasn't really invested in the story because of that. I really cared about Takeru and the sheer stakes of how he had to save the world(s). He was a bit of a retard and a huge whiner a lot of the time, but I really came to love him and I don't know if I can stay invested in a story in this setting without him. I get the ending of Alternative is supposed to be kinda bittersweet, but it leaves me with such a feeling of regret since not only does nobody remember Takeru (except Kasumi) and what he's done, but he doesn't even remember it so he'll just revert to being that dipshit in Extra all over again. I at least wish he could have lived on with the knowledge of what he did and the sacrifices that were made

Guys, I have a problem that it's been around 4 years since I finished the Trilogy but I can't stop thinking about it every day and I just keep recommending it to my irl friends, and if they don't want to play because it's either a visual novel or too long I just spice up things with a trade deal with them just to have them playing the trilogy and then I gift them the game on Steam when it's on sale, I have done this with around 5-9 people and at the moment 2 of them Have finished the Trilogy, 1 of them finished Unlimited but hasn't started Alternative, and 4 of them are still going through Extra, and well there's also 3 of them who didn't bother to start the game. I don't know why or how I just keep convincing them to go through it, but I guess it's just my desire to have more people around talking about the trilogy. Here's a list of I things I've started to watch/play/read in order to get my friends to try the trilogy:

I remember describing Unlimited to a friend who said he'd never read it because "it's cringe, moe slop" and describing the sci-fi elements, he thought I was talking about a different series entirely.

I just finished watching Alternative, Eclipse, and Schwarzesmarken, and I have to say the quality of these 3 series is all over the place.

Prior to watching the series I've only played a bit of Muv Luv in Japanese and I basically went in blind to Alternative, then watched Schwarzesmarken, and just finished Eclipse. If I had to rank them it'd be Alternative S2>Schwarzesmarken>Alternative S1>>>Shit>Eclipse. Alternative S2 was great after the very poor second half of S1. Schwarzesmarken was great up until episode 9 when Lise was killed, she's probably my favorite character in the series next to Sumika, and Eclipse is legitimately probably in the top 3 worst anime I've ever watched. What is the point of Eclipse? I get its supposed to be a minor prequel to Alternative but across 24 episodes it felt like nothing happened. There were random beach episodes, onsen episodes, a fighting tournament arc. It's like the show never figured out what it wanted to be. I'm really disappointed. Also Yui was insufferable and the only thing I enjoyed about her was the random noises she'd make. Of the male leads: Takeru>Theodore>Yuuya.

I just finished KimiNozu and holy fuck the anime is so sad. I applaud it for making a character as insufferable and unlikable as Mitsuki, but holy shit it's insane how cruel they were to Haruka. The end of episode 14 with her picture book being read was heartbreaking. I'm going to watch Next and Akane's OVA's tomorrow, but man. It was a great series but the ending really leaves me disappointed.

played a little bit of the backer demo for tactics. It seems better than I expected but the bar was pretty low. Didn't feel super jank or anything like mikhail did. Some of the issues were stuff they already noted in the download email so I didn't take them into consideration when taking a look. 1st level was a tutorial with a couple grapplers, 2nd was against a handful of TSFs. Didn't try the third stage yet. There's terrain variants that affects movement and what units can move through. Every unit took a bit to down so I'm not sure if it'll have the feel of taking on a BETA horde. I failed the second stage once, I guess the strat is to focus fire because I didn't really see many other ways to efficiently take out units without eventually being overwhelmed. Seems like it will be passable. I'm more concerned about the story that anything.
