Yeah, as a lawyer in the Philippines, I've been hearing this from my clients who are Japanese in Japan. It's insanely hilarious to me how politically naive and fickle the Japanese are. Apparently being a politically apathetic nation does this to you.
It exposes Japan as a copycat of America, like it always has been for decades. It's entire history from the time America forced it to open has been driven by Americans. There is no country more influenced by America for the past 200 years than Japan. And it shows here.
There is literally ZERO REASON why they would need a Donald Trump. Or a Duterte. ZERO. They are a literal tutorial country living better lives than 95% of the world with problems they made up themselves.
Japan doesn't face the same problems America has, AT ALL. They don't have a immigrant problem, hell, they are a literal island, a SINGULAR HUGE ISLAND in general, so they control immigration pretty well. Most jeets, or SEAfags or Brazilians there are well and behaved.
They also have a huge labor shortage. Don't give me this automation crap too by the way. It doesn't make sense to spend billions of dollars to automate, when you can get cheap foreign labor instead at no cost.
There is no threat to losing Japan to non-Japanese at all. Most foreigners can't even be citizens for the rest of their lives in Japan and live in temporary visas. Japan at the moment is for Japanese, in a sense. Their country also literally doesn't have sex, a problem they made up for themselves.
