No but that is how historical record works. When I was young and naive I understand this to a degree but I thought surely the broad strokes of history would be maintained in a roughly factual well. I was wrong. People will twist the story one minute after it just happened right there in front of your face. The more time has passed the worse this gets until what you think is historical record, and what the historical record is, is completely divorced from the reality of events.
