I don't think it was intentional, but the portrayal of cults on this one got some things down. There are cults heads that did have some true metaphysical experiences, but launch unto sensationalist organizations in order to use people for their ends. Although, the actual cult members here are smarter in Coffin than the average gonzo on /x/ because they launch onto it as a social gathering first, occult practices second, not actually expecting stuff to show off. The part of
>"Now i know why people join cults"
is also pretty close, because over a lack of understanding and higher knowledge, and with it, a departure from the inner sense of God, people launch onto New Age scams and Occultism to fill the space. Maybe im going ahead of myself here because i love shit like this, but i know damn well that this is a romance story, and the magic around is just another way to express that. Also, considering all of Nemlei games, i really think that she knows some stuff.

>I do like southern gothic, on paper it doesn't have much in common with TCOAAL but the same sort of frank imperfection is there, if that makes sense.
The thing about TCAOAAL and Nemlei in general, is that it blends the teenager "vibe" (for a lack of a better word) with real themes that any adult faces within growing up. It also have the consistency of leaving behind the world for something ideal, and this ideal is always about loving someone else deeply. Nemlei is the only writer i can think off where the romance/love part is the highlight, and somehow, the story is always exciting and the worlds are full of details and wonder.
