The power draw on ARM is so much lower. It makes me wonder if we'll ever drop x86 for desktops. The x86 compatibility layer Apple uses works pretty well so I don't think it's completely out there.

You usually get 5-7 years of OS upgrades, all of which get 3 years of security patches. The next OS version is the last one to support Intel chips.

At that point you have to weigh up the pros of getting security patches from something like Lineage (assuming your phone is even supported) and having an unlocked bootloader which a bunch of apps freak out about.

I know you can get in hot water in mainland China for stuff you send on WeChat (so not even public social media posts). If things ever get that bad you should probably worry.
