Maybe that's why I'm so curious about the next chapters. Because I think he must have some 'answer'. Higurashi, the power of the bonds between people can reshape fate. Umineko, love transcends all borders, even death itself, and shapes a golden future. Ciconia then must have some answer beyond the comfort of a lie we tell ourselves after we become our own gods, or so I think at least
I like how you phrase it, feeling like a bad end. It gives me Normal Route vibes. Like the dissatisfying conclusion to Undertales normal route. The catharsis of the Pacifist or True route is missing. The crescendo hasn't been revealed
The parallel processor thing intrigues me too. Also Koshka's whole Pandora deal. It also reminds me of The Evil Within. A core 'processor' to maintain the illusory world. But even that explanation feels incomplete in Ciconia's world.
And even with all of that said, the whole 'war is hell' vibe from the story, mixed with a coming of age tale, almost makes me think the nature of reality is going to be a side plot to the main thrust of the story.
To put it in Umineko terms. The digital world feels like a Red Truth. The Pandora/multiple personality disorder part feels like a Blue Truth, and the 'true' points that connect it all, their bonds or the truth of humanity, or what have you, feel like a Golden Truth
