Making the top a bodice is a personal flare since I designed the cosplays I made to use a body stocking for the darker parts of Liz's torso. Having the white parts stitched onto it didn't make much sense since it'd start tearing too quickly.
So, use bones to keep the overall shape and an invisible zip for the back, that way you can use it as a casual bodice.
Also helps with sitting down since it makes adjusting the torso easier, you don't have to lift if you want to lean forwards and it less of a pain on the back.
