Well yeah. Rarity, Twilight, Sombra, Celestia, and Derpy were all carrying this movie on their back.
Once they were out of the picture (fortunately Sombra came back) all we had was Braeburn who has no charisma and can't carry a scene, Apple Bottom was the only entertaining character left for most of the movie until Sombra returned, Soarin who was taking a supporting role to Braeburn, and Big Mac who was kind of stunted.
Braeburn simply does not work in a leading role he just doesn't. The only time he works is as a supporting character.
