If they didn't like live-service games, they would support the initiative because it would address their biggest problem with or maybe 'hurt' live-service games as a whole which would bring them sadistic enjoyment.
If they liked live-service games, they're doing the:

argument, which is just a way to skirt criticism by painting people as intrusive.
Or maybe they're purposing agitating people to further galvanize them into the campaign by acting flippant.
