Prediction: In 2026 the UK government will use the OSA to block gaming platforms from selling GTA VI on the grounds that it contains too much "violent" and "harmful" content and that children could be subjected to it.
Reminder that the OSA requires online platforms to restrict content which contains any of the following:
>content that promotes violence or "depicts real or realistic serious violence against a person, an animal, or a fictional creature"; content that promotes challenges or stunts that are likely to cause serious injuries; content that encourages people to use harmful substances or substances in harmful quantities; content that shames people based on body type or physical features; and "content that promotes or romanticizes depression, hopelessness and despair."

This rumor has been floating around for a while, but it's looking closer to being all but confirmed. A few indicators:
-The preexisting discussion around Jason possibly being a cop, and Lucia strictly watched with an ankle monitor could be setting pretext as to why their killing of civilians would be unlikely/unavailable.
-In RDR2, some of the more realistic aspects of deaths were removed from RDR1, such as characters grabbing on to environmental items as they die and fall. This would be in keeping with this general trend away from gratuitious murder.
-Another precedent was set by Rockstar in LA Noire, where NPCs would jump quickly away from cars intending to hit them, and it was another title wherein killing was sometimes expected while being prohibited against civilians.

You want the big redpill on why GTA VI is going to be so successful? Rockstar carefully crafted it, and more importantly the main characters, to be a reflection of what we want in ourselves, our lives, and a romantic partner in the current age. The game will be a pop culture hit because it is a reflection of pop culture itself. People are more disconnected than ever from romance and happiness and Jason and Lucia and their Bonny & Clyde story are mirrors into our souls. Jason is the good looking, white bad boy Chad who does what he wants and can go from a stoic dude with a crew cut to a trailer trash free spirit with free flowing hair and a backwards ball cap at will. For guys he’s the “literally me” self insert and for women he represents the guy they truly want in reality, someone who they would swipe right on Tinder for in an instant. You think Rockstar didn’t see women’s reactions to Arthur in RDR2?
As for Lucia, she represents the strong, independent, chaotic female who gives off toxic vibes but fucks her man’s brains out at night. She’s the self insert for women and for guys she represents the “fiery but passionate Latina” archetype that’s often fetishized. For the first time ever we’re not getting characters that are stereotypical criminal types, aging old men, or pop culture remakes. The characters are supposed to represent the player and their idealized life in this hellscape we call the real world in 2025. Just think of all the YouTube video essays and online debates that will be going around about how “Lucia was right to betray Jason” and “Lucia fucked it all up because she was nuts, Jason did nothing wrong”. The debate of Jason vs Lucia and who “the toxic one” was will be one of the biggest gaming debates in the coming years, just you watch.

You want the big redpill on why this game is going to be so successful? Rockstar carefully crafted it, and more importantly the main characters, to reflect the idealized versions of ourselves, our lives, and our most desired romantic partner in the modern day. This game is going to be a massive pop culture hit because it will finally become a reflection of pop culture itself. Every GTA before this you play as some stereotypical criminal or aging old men but now you get Jason, who’s the idealized version of what men want in themselves and what women want from men today. Jason is the white muscled up bad boy Chad who does whatever he wants and seemingly can change from a stoic dude with a crew cut to a free spirited trailer trash dude with a backwards cap, free flowing hair, and nice facial hair at will. For men he’s the “literally me” insert and for women he’s the dude they’d swipe right on in an instant on Tinder. Lucia meanwhile is the strong, independent, probably toxic and domestically abusive Latina. She comes off as the one in charge between her and Jason. Women see her as their self insert because she “gets what she wants” and men like her because she represents the fiery female that will challenge them in the daily and then fuck their brains out in the bedroom at night. None of this was by accident and Rockstar carefully made it this way to ensure mass engagement with the product. For the first time ever we’re getting characters that are self inserts for the player rather than pop culture remakes made into a GTA character
