When you can personally make friends with someone and convince them to pay the firm millions and millions of dollars to run 30 second commercials between flintstones episodes for years if not decades?
Yeah dude, companies were willing to pay for that, they still are infact not just in advertising but in life insurance, wealth management and a whole host of other industries in sales. lt's honestly not a bad job in your 20s if you're an outgoing and charismatic enough business major; and they're high demand now as so many zoomers dont want to leave their fucking home.
Only difference between now and then is that basically everyone works commision now.
Good news with that is you really get someone at lucky strike or coca cola to sign you (the "accounts" guy) stand to make a $100,000 pluss off one sale.
Bad news is you dont get paid anything if you dont make a sale.
