I must be psychic because I started to re-read Vinland Saga a couple days ago. I gave up on the series shortly after the Baltic Sea arc ended because it was just so unsatisfying after sticking around for all those years. Thorfinn's idea of pacifism is retarded when he's faced with so much shit, Hild was a completely unnecessary addition since the story just treated her as an explicit consequence to Thorfinn betraying his new ideals, and Garm was some Baki-tier edgelord character just thrown in for no reason. Not to mention the handling of Floki didn't feel like the culmination of his own schemes blowing up in his face since all his failures came from Garm killing one guy and pissing off Thorkell.

I've heard smatterings of what's been going on since then and my re-read is already stalling out once again in the Baltic seas. I just remember the interview where the author admits he's changed as a person and so have his values. Maybe it would have been better to end the story earlier rather than continue to make Thorfinn a complete moron.

I will never forgive Yukimura for timeskipping past Byzantine. Motherfucker I wanted trade adventures instead of Floki's bullshit.
