then I followed this (picrel) this is crucial because otherwise the cursor won't appear and you won't be able to start the game in the menu (if you are a complete moron it's done when you right click on the exe file, in this case CoDSP.exe, and select properties and there navigate to compatibility and do what the picture says)

then, wherever you installed the game, in main directory, there will be a folder named "base" open the preyconfig.cfg with a notepad and edit your resolution there manually the lines to edit will be something like "custom_height" and "custom_width" or whatever, so for height write whatever your monitor's resolution is, same for width and save the file

that is it, takes maybe 30 seconds
