For most of the old neocon boomers it's a weird cultish trained response, they genuinely don't even know why. They just mumble something like "they're our ally in the region." When Candace Owens had her USS Liberty episode my dads head looked like it was going to explode.
But that response does seem to be rooted in the Evangelical belief that their are biblically commanded to support them, which is retarded. But they're lying that it's just because the bible commands us. Just like Jews or Muslims don't want other people to know how their religious texts speak of others, Evangelicals don't really want others to realize they want all the Jews to go back to Israel because that is supposed to start the Rapture/End Times.
It's only now that public consciousness is shifting towards awareness of their weird religious basis for their support of Israel and actually addressing it rather than ignoring it.
